For most of its extended history, Egyptian government was led by the Pharaoh, a semi-divine ruler. Powerful lignage ensured the continuance of prosperity, interrupted only during brief durations of city conflict and the beginning of outdoor invasions at the end of the Middle section Kingdom. Mesopotamia, however , started as a group of city-states, personal governing and competing intended for power.
